Writing is...rewriting.

Books aren't written- they're rewritten.  Including your own.  It is one of the hardest things to accept, especially after the seventh rewrite hasn't quite done it.

  1. It's the same with poems....
Just when you thought it was safe to ....
    You know what follows here!!!

And I think it helps to be obsessive compulsive!!! LOL

  2. Books, short stories, poems....! Multiple re-writes, endless read throughs...! How very true Eamon!!

  3. Indeed, ladies, it often feels like a never-ending process trying to bring my long fiction to a place where I believe it is 'ready'. Then I receive feedback that helps me realise that I've still a way to go. Patience, and yes, Barbara, a 'healthy' dose of obsession, helps keep the pain at an acceptable level...ish! ;-) Thanks for dropping by. x

  4. This helps me a lot as I just need to be reminded of it all of the time. Thank you Eamon, you have been such a good influence in my writing, I appreciate the tips I have learned from you, Barbara, everyone but you especially over the past year. Máire

  5. Very kind of you to say that, Maire. You are such a prolific writer, it won't be long before you've published a collection of your poems/haiku. I have a space on my shelf for it. ;-)
